FAQ

Do you have doctors or nurses on site?

Our primary goal is to help residents achieve long term sobriety and we are not a medical facility, we, like most other BC supportive recovery residences, do not have doctors or nurses on-site, we have partnered with virtual healthcare providers or residents may also choose their own doctor to ensure that residents have access to medical support and medication management as needed.

Do you treat mental health conditions?

No. Our primary goal is to assist our residents in achieving abstinence from problematic substance use. We are not a medical/mental health facility. We do understand that mental health conditions are often paired with addiction, and we support all residents’ mental health protocols prescribed by the residents mental health team if applicable.

What should I expect from groups?

We offer both educational wellness and addiction groups daily, that provide valuable information and support to help residents understand their addiction and develop healthy coping strategies; and daily group therapy sessions that offer residents the opportunity to connect with others who are going through similar experiences, providing a sense of community and support. We expose our residents to several pathways to recovery which may include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Twelve step groups, SMART Recovery, and wellness groups. Participation in all groups is mandatory.

Do you ever leave the residence?

Yes. Residents are brought to support meetings in the community, out shopping, on walks and hikes, and other activities that provide residents with the opportunity to engage in enjoyable and enriching activities outside of the residence, helping to promote socialization and integration into the community. Additionally, once a resident is no longer on restrictions, they have the ability to request permission to leave the premises on an outing of their choosing.

How do my loved ones stay involved?

We encourage family support and involvement as it is a key component to the recovery process. Communications can start after the restriction period, and only to the degree the resident desires.

Will I be able to go home during my stay?

Yes. Once a resident is no longer on restrictions, they have the option to request a weekend pass subject to approval from the residents team.

Can I smoke?

Yes. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.

Can I bring my own protein powder?

Yes. Residents are provided an area to store their dry goods.

Can I bring my own snacks?

Yes. Residents can bring their own snacks, or purchase them on outings. We offer a resident refrigerator where residents can label and store their personal snacks. We also offer plenty of snacks that are available for residents at any time.
